The 6th Annual ReelWorld Film Festival and Foundation launches a series of exciting events in 2006 to support diversity in film and video

The 6th Annual ReelWorld Film Festival and Foundation launches an exciting season for 2006, promoting and supporting Canada’s diversity and excellence in film and video.

ReelWorld Foundation also announces the appointment of two senior members of the team- Patricia Scarlett, Executive Director and LaRue Shields, Director of Marketing.

Scarlett’s experience in the industry began at TVOntario where she worked primarily in international sales. Shields brings 37 years of advertising, marketing and design experience. Both will bring much creativity and vitality to the ReelWorld Foundation.

This year, ReelWorld Foundation will hold a series of fundraisers, create key alliances and enhance its corporate relationships in order to bring healthy and prosperous opportunities to diverse filmmakers. The foundation will also focus on new out-reach methods to help youth in the community.

The 6th Annual ReelWorld Film Festival shares the work of many talented filmmakers from Canada and around the world, promoting and supporting excellence and diversity in film and video to create more opportunities for artists of colour. The festival line-up will be announced at the The 6th AnnualReelWorld Film Festival press conference scheduled on March 21, 2006.

 


From April 19 to 23, 2006 The6th Annual ReelWorld Film Festival presents an eclectic collection of powerful features, riveting shorts, music videos, film series and workshops.  During the festival, the Industry Series seminar program offers practical advice to emerging artists, teaching them skills needed to survive in the industry. Seminar participants learn how industry conditions can affect their careers, and uncover productive methods to get funding while discovering who’s who in the field.

ReelWorld Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization providing year-round educational and training initiatives, with networking, mentorship and apprenticeship programs, as well as screenings, roundtable discussion, awards and events in order to create more opportunities for Canadian artists of diverse cultures. 

ReelWorld Foundation was founded in 2001 by actress, producer, director and writer Tonya Lee Williams hosts The 6th AnnualReelWorld Film Festival which will be held April 19 to 23, 2006.
