Riveting and provocative TV series Moccasin Flats presents it's third season on Showcase

TORONTO: August 1, 2006

Big Soul Productions, and Redcloud Studios launch the third season of their trailblazing hit series Moccasin Flats, premiering August 7, 2006 on Showcase television. Season three introduces special guest stars as they continue to excel with controversial storylines, showcasing the best in aboriginal and non-aboriginal talent from across the country.

In the third season, Matthew Merasty (Mathew Strongeagle, Into the West) and Red (Ron Harris, aka native Hip Hop artist Os Twelve) drift further apart from each other and their musical dreams after Red decides to quit music and focus on his relationship with former sex worker turned anti-prostitution activist Candy (Candace Fox).

Also shifting downward is Candy’s only police ally, Corporal Amanda Strongeagle (Andrea Menard), whose entangled love life distracts her from helping increasingly younger prostitutes in Moccasin Flats.

The show also stars Moccasin Flats co-creator Jennifer Podemski as Amanda Strongeagle’s love interest, Deb Johnson. Podemski is an award-winning, Gemini-nominated actress best known for her roles in Bruce McDonald’s Dance Me Outside and The Rez, she currently stars in Degrassi the Next Generation and the upcoming comedy Moose TV, a Showcase original series scheduled to premier in early 2007.

Laura Milliken and Podemski created the show as a half hour short film which garnered an invitation to screen at film festivals world-wide, including the Toronto International Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.

Moccasin Flats is a predominately Native ghetto, located in the city of Regina, Saskatchewan. Regina ranks as one of Canada’s highest regions of teen prostitution and the incarceration rate of Aboriginal youth is 10 times greater than any other area of Canada. The Aboriginal community faces issues of homelessness, suicide, alcoholism, and drug abuse.

Moccasin Flats is the first ever dramatic series in North America to be created, produced, performed and written by an all-aboriginal team. For more information, visit www.moccasinflats.com
