For her upcoming July Canada concert tour, Hilary Duff asks her fans to bring canned goods to her concerts to support Canadian Harvest. This is the second time Hilary has worked with Canadian Harvest. In 2005, 250,000 children were fed with canned goods brought by fans to Hilary's Canada concerts.
"The opportunity to help Canadian Harvest is a very important part of my charitable outreach," says Hilary. "Last time I toured Canada, my fans did an amazing job of providing canned goods to help the efforts of this great organization. I'm certain this time my fans can do even better."
Canadian Harvest and its American counterpart, USA Harvest, began in 1989 as Kentucky Harvest, the brainchild of Stan Curtis. The goal of the organization is to move food from people who have too much to those who have much too little. Since 1989, the "food-raisers" have collected more than 11.6 billion pounds of food for missions, soup kitchens and food banks across North America.
Several musicians support Canadian/USA Harvest by collecting food at their concerts, including Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls and Van Halen.
On her Canada tour, Hilary has already played shows in St. John’s, NL and Halifax, NS, and still has shows in London, ON (July 25) and Toronto, ON (July 26).
